Grand daughter of Parur Sundaram Iyer and daughter of Padma Bhusan M S Gopalakrishnan and Meenakshi Gopalakrishnan, Dr M Narmadha is a renowned versatile popular third generation violinist and started her initial training in violin at the tender age of four from her grandfather and continued to learn simultaneously both Hindustani and Karnatak music

Since the Parur style embraces both Hindustani and Carnatic music Dr Narmadha has chosen raga Sahana in the Carnatic style and the Ragam Tanam Pallavi in the Hindustani raga Brindavani Saranga.
